Thesis Statement

Part of the whole, the future is now

Limiting global warming and endless usefulness of energy to be the result of the true Net-Zero carbon buildings.

Problem Statement

How can we make building to be Net-zero energy that leads to LEED principles to reduce hydrocarbons and global warming to achieve the wellness building?

Sustainability, technology.

Can we make the building to be zero energy, it is lead to LEED reducing hydrocarbons and global warming to
arrive at the wellness life?

Research technological sustainability energy center
Under the Harahan Bridge, Mississippi River comes to life for the general public.

Precedents Studies
Muzeiko Children's Science Discovery Center / Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership
King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture / Snøhetta
Discovery Centre / Architecture Discipline

These studies have been an advantage to me through the most important elements of the program project consist of it and I learned from it the following:

Muzeiko Children's Science Discovery Center / Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership:

- It was very important for me how the project programming has the connection between the past present and the future is the same concept for the research center under the Harahan Bridge, that appeared when the architect Organized conceptually as a journey moving through time and space, visitors can explore three levels of exhibits in the 35,000-square-foot (3,250 m2) LEED Gold facility. On the lowest level, children explore “The Past” through exhibits interpreting archaeology, geology, and paleontology.

- The ground floor is “The Present,” represented by hands-on exhibits about the natural environment and contemporary cities. The top floor is dedicated to “The Future” with interactive exhibitions exploring cutting-edge technologies and space travel. Interactivity also extends to the site, which includes a science playground, a green roof and rooftop climbing wall, a rain garden, outdoor activity space, and an amphitheater.

- How the architect uses the gold LEED certificate and criteria which makes these buildings with the environment friendly through the time also for the next generations.

King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture / Snøhetta :

- How the architect created the metal tubes as creative facade materials to cover all the skin building.
On the other hand, how the architect makes the building form follows the surrounding context environment building that makes it belong to the context of nature site elements.

- The energy solutions the balance and harmony of the composition are not static, but dynamic, expressive of the teamwork, and above all of the energy to be found in the people that comprise Saudi Aramco and Saudi Arabia.that gave me a strong example how we can make concept part of the whole in this real project in the form design and in the function architecture solutions.

- How the architect engaged different geometric mass shapes together in harmony architecture design.
But they do not have the hi-tech architect design solutions related to global development that will not make it able to keep pace with rapid scientific and technological progress in the world.

Discovery Centre / Architecture Discipline :

- It was very important for me how the architect makes a creative solution for the building from the way of using glass materials when he is using the glass in this way and the energy solution that uses the light and water in sustainable ways, the printed glass is used to not only dissipate heat but also to play with patterns and enable changes in the light transformation to make the building appear dynamic throughout the day.

- Grey on the outside and white inside, the multiple layers of the frit-printed glass creates a dynamic during the day and at night. the Lighting transforms itself with the change in the number of people occupying the plaza, and likewise at different times of the day. Night lighting is dramatically different from the visual experience during the day and is always unique with Interesting colors making the building come alive even at night. And the energy solution that uses light and water in sustainable ways.

- How the architecture makes a design solution for the plan even though it is a rectangle plan shape throughout interior design and function solutions with space harmony.

- On the other hand, it was very important for me the materials using such the museum utilizes large areas of glass to reveal the interior and creating the feeling of openness and transparency about the activity inside, in contrast with most Bulgarian museums that appear imposing and monumental.

- How the architect makes the building longer utility of longer life-span materials, Also the design had to be more than just a rudimentary structure that would establish an identity even from a glimpse.

The Research Center is a center for research of the Mississippi River, water purity at various depths,
another marker of the biological health of the river, architecture design research and public outreach
the facility on the underside of the Harahan Bridge accessible by the pedestrian deck of the Big River
Crossing.

The  Description:

The Research Center is about how architecture can make sustainability, technological, and sustainability research come to life for the general public. That showcases the life of the river and its history and cultural values. The exhibit features informative stories of history including an observation deck and telescopes with native aquatic life with the viewing of its natural environment. Also focusing on water research and the economic impact on the region with native river life.

Spacious meeting room for special events, lectures, workshops distance learning, and more.
The aerodynamic idea it makes the main inspiration for me from the biomimicry from the bird's body
the shape that uses the wind force in a useful way, at the same time is the golden proportion shape
design.

The intent of the research center is to create a progressive design experience that would demonstrate,
the core value of high quality of life in the development. Innovation is therefore crucial and something
distinctive had to be created to make buildings last longer through the utility of longer life span materials.

LEED (which is standers for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design") is one of the main rating systems for green building and among the most widely recognized and respected in the world. A high
rating constitutes an official, independent certification that environmental considerations were given the
highest priority in the building's planning and construction processes.

Sustainability solutions for water and lighting energy conservation as well as its community programs
stewardship have been a key part of the building's innovation building the highest LEED-certified
For instance, it made more connectivity solutions between communities such as put new pedestrian
walking paths and designed solar panels and wind turbines in the research center.

On the other hand, innovative local food production features such as edible landscaping, an urban garden.
The building's LED lighting design and highly efficient water and energy use and conservation strategies will also lead to significant operational.

The net-zero building meaning the total amount of energy used by the building is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site is intended to host research and development to drive the post-carbon economy, while also teaching the public about sustainability through its practices.

The driving concept, specifically, is the building's Net-Zero relationship to the environment and its closed-loop systems. The building to have little (or zero) wasted energy and water, the intended to design an energy solution for a building such as solar energy, wind energy, and water uses. reuse system reduces potable water use by 70%, Blackwater treatment plant that cycles all wastewater from the building including stormwater from the roof, and returns it for other gray water needs. Also, flexible exterior architecture design and multiple, interactive solution interior design.
